Vinh travelling

Hi, I’m Vinh.

I’m a 30-year-old based in Toronto, and I’ve visited 47 countries – business class cabins, long-haul flights, overwater villas, and luxury hotel suites included. My total travel bill? A fraction of what you’d expect.

I’m not wealthy. I don’t have a trust fund. I work a regular 9-5, but a few years ago I discovered something that changed how I travel forever: the Canadian points system is one of the most powerful and most underused tools for accessing luxury travel in the world.

The moment everything changed

For years I was leaving thousands of dollars on the table every month. My spending on groceries, dining, and transit was generating Amex Membership Rewards, Aeroplan, and RBC Avion points and I was redeeming them for almost nothing. Gift cards. Merchandise. “Cash back” at a fraction of their real value.

Then I learned how to transfer Amex points to Aeroplan and book Air Canada Business Class. I learned how to use RBC Avion to access British Airways Avios for Cathay Pacific First Class. I booked a $4,291 trip to Australia and back for $297.17. Taxes and fees only. Paid entirely with points earned from everyday spending.

That was it. I was obsessed.

What I cover on Vinture With Me

This blog sits at the intersection of two things: real travel itineraries from someone who has actually been there, and the Canadian points strategy to help you book those same trips for almost nothing.

  • Destination itineraries – day-by-day guides from 47 countries, with real hotels, restaurants, and costs
  • Points and miles strategy – Canadian-specific guides to Aeroplan, Amex MR, and RBC Avion
  • Credit card deep dives – honest reviews of the cards worth having in your Canadian wallet
  • Luxury on a real budget – business class seats and premium hotels booked with points, not savings

My current card stack

My two core earning cards are the American Express Cobalt (5x points on food and groceries, transfers 1:1 to Aeroplan) and the RBC Avion Visa Infinite (transfers to British Airways Avios for OneWorld partners including Cathay Pacific). Together they unlock almost every major airline alliance.
